Katies Garden

Celebrating the life of Katie Wohlrab Oliver

RHS Hampton Court Flower Show
5th – 10th July 2016

WINNER OF AN RHS SILVER MEDAL FOR A SUMMER GARDEN!

WINNER OF RHS People's Choice Award Summer and City Garden

Katie loved flowers and plants. She appreciated the simple benefits they bring in uplifting your mood and brightening your day. She took pleasure in growing and arranging them and was very interested in their medicinal qualities. They were a delight to her in happy times and a comfort to her in darker ones. Katie was a bright and beautiful person and would have loved this garden in her memory.

The space is a life-affirming, productive flower garden full of joy and positivity, laid out with raised planting beds demonstrating how to grow flowers for cutting and arranging in a small space. The mainly pink-burgundy planting palette reflects the colours of the logos of both Katie’s Lymphoedema Fund and The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. Garden HC692.

Our English oak flower prepping table, kindly loaned by Titchmarsh & Goodwin, creates the impression of a small florist’s workspace with pots,
dried seed-heads, gardening and floristry tools. Buckets and vases are filled with seasonal, local, British cut flowers grown for us by Windmill Flowers in Somerset.

Central to our design and representing the flow of the lymphatic drainage system is the circular water feature, loaned by Urbis, drawing attention to the vital and ongoing work of Katie’s Lymphoedema Fund.
